still not much to report. we hit 10 days without precip today, although by this evening rain had started in the valley. my guess is the freezing levels are around 1200m, but it's hard to tell with the low cloud cover. finally looks like we'll get something big later this week, but it's still a little too far off to get excited.
i was up for a few runs yesterday and i'd have to say the conditions were about as bad as i've seen all year. sugar snow over hardpack. lower mountain probably would have been OK but they were still cleaning up from the races and all the runs were closed. doubt i'll head up again until we get another big dump.

still not much happening in the way of snow...the hopeful forecast is that the precip next week will actually lead into a new series of fronts, but it's not looking all that likely at the moment. i've been using this extra time to explore other interests, such as "flight of the conchords" - these guys are brilliant!

whole lotta nothing in that forecast. conditions are hurting right now. lots of hardpack and anything off-piste is not rideable. flute has been completely tracked out since last week. time to focus on other things until we get some more snow...

is it already thursday?! another stupidly busy week, but at least the conditions suck right now. haven't had any real snow in a week, and even that system was pretty weak. did it perhaps coincide with my assertion that this was the best season since i moved out here? damn! i shoulda kept my mouth shut.
the world cup is on right now so all the creekside runs are shut down. but i think i'll go up to check out those speedy nutty-asses. miraculously, it isn't foggy or rainy which is what always happens when they host races here.

went up for some cruisers with friends in the sunshine today. picnic lunch styles at the peak. conditions are nothing great, the bowls are pretty tough chop, groomers are OK, but it is nice to feel the warm sun again.
looks like we might get a light dusting later in the week, but nothing much.

tried something a little different today...x country skiing. we went down to check out the pooch loop at the new callaghan valley course. what a blast! i managed to sprain my thumb within the first 30 seconds of putting on the skate skis. i haven't wiped out that hard in 4 years. but we were loving it so much i'm thinking of getting my own equipment.
it's super warm out here now - felt like about +15C in the sun today. the alpine temp is forecast to hit +7 tomorrow. doesn't look like much snow for the foreseeable future, but it's great spring conditions.

what's this about going uphill?

indy loving it

wonky thumb

we're not the only ones with snow this winter. this is a pic of the parents' place back in ON.
